Creators of 28 Days of Creativity with the Indie Craft Experience

Shannon Mulkey Green and Christy Petterson founded the Indie Craft Experience in 2005 (read more about that here). Since then they have hosted many, many craft and vintage markets in Atlanta giving artists an opportunity to get their creations in front of an eager audience who appreciates handcrafted goods. Hundreds of small businesses have launched or grown at Indie Craft Experience events.

Shannon and Christy are also arts educators and teach workshops at their studio in Atlanta. They both work as Teaching Artists at the High Museum of Art, and they host hands-on art activities with a featured local artist each month at the High’s First Friday event.

Shannon and Christy are also artists. During the past five years they have explored indigo dyeing and Shibori techniques. In 2018, they traveled to Oaxaca, Mexico to learn about natural dye techniques in Teotitlan del Valle from Juana Gutierrez Contreras of Weaving Oaxaca and to Silver Lake, L.A. to learn natural dye techniques from Graham Keegan. They also hosted an indigo retreat on the Oregon Coast at the Starry Night Inn. The three trips were dreams at the beginning of 2018, and Shannon and Christy made them happen!
